Too Long

I guess it has been a while since we posted anything. In that time both babies have come home and are growing like crazy. They are already outgrowing some of our favorite outfits. :( Emma weighs around 9 lbs and Eli weighs almost 13 lbs! He is a little chunk. Needless to say he never misses a meal! They are beginning to smile at us and make cooing sounds. They make our hearts melt. Eli is very laid back. He will lay in his crib and fall asleep on his own, whereas Emma is more highstrung and doesn't like to lay alone. She wants someone holding her until she falls asleep. She is very stubborn. I have never seen a child fight the "crying it out" method so long. We just have to remind ourselves "It won't be like this for long." Which brings us to our next milestone... Tristan started Kindergarten last Tuesday, so this is his second week of school. He is growing up sooooo fast! I can't believe it. I can remember when I was home taking care of him when he was just tiny! He has a girlfriend (already) named Jessica. Tyler dropped him off at school last Friday. His girlfriend was walking in with her mom. Tyler said Tristan was in such a hurry he barely even said goodbye. Tyler was pretty frustrated and wanted to make him come back and try it again, until he saw what was coming next... Tristan ran up to the school door and opened the door for his girlfriend and her mom! What a gentleman! I am so proud that he is such a nice young man. I feel very blessed- especially that I have a husband who, without even knowing it, is teaching his son how to be a good man.

Update

OK...To catch everyone up. Emma and Eli were born 10 weeks early. Twins tend to develop faster than a singleton, so when they came out they were doing quite well and were a good size for their gestation. Emma was the first one out and she weighed 3 lbs 2 oz. She came out screaming which was a relief. Eli was a little harder to get out. He was holding on with all he had. The doctor had to stand up and push against my body to get him out. He weighed 3 lbs 11 oz. That was 5 weeks ago, Friday! What a blur! Emma now weighs 4 lbs 15 oz and Eli weighs 5 lbs 15 oz. They have come along wonderfully. They have been moved to cribs instead of heated isolettes and they both get to eat from a bottle. Eli only gets a bottle twice a day whereas Emma gets a bottle every 3 hours. When he isn't getting a bottle he gets his food through a feeding tube. We still have a journey ahead of us, but they are getting closer everyday. Thank you for all your prayers and please continue to pray! They are so perfect and we thank The Lord everyday that he trusted us enough to give us such a blessing!

Brand New

First of all, we are brand new to this whole "blogging" thing. A couple of friends have told us that we should start one. We have finally decided to give it a try. So, here goes...

We have a 5 year old son named Tristan and we just had twins, Emma and Eli, on May 15th. Tristan is in his last week of summer school and will start Kindergarten in the fall :( It seems like yesterday he was born. The twins are still in the NICU and probably will be for another week or so. This experience can only be described as the worst roller coaster ride we have ever been on. It feels like it will never end. That is why we have decided now is a good time to start a blog. Not only do we have so much free time on our hands (sarcasm), but we thought it would give us a chance to vent and keep everyone up-to-date on the status of the twins-while they are in the NICU and even after they come home.
